Matthew here. Please try not to make too big of a mess :).

I am a Canadian machine learning researcher currently living and working in London, England.

By day, I am a research engineer at Google DeepMind, working on Really Cool Stuff™ in deep reinforcement learning. I also have quite a bit of experience in embedded systems, robotics, and electronics design.

This is my tech/DIY blog where I write about stuff I do outside of work – at the moment that’s mostly woodworking, DIY electronics, embedded systems, and making consumer gadgets. I am quite comfortable in both electronics and software, but not so much mechanical design, so that’s what I’m focusing on at the moment.

I also have an “Everything Else” blog, where I write about travel, musicals, social psychology, and a host of other things. Please do check it out, too!

Hope you enjoy your stay!

  1. Hi, great work. Specifically with the lamp. I am a software engineer myself, and I am looking to learn more about electronics. Where do you suggest I should start reading? I Want to learn things from basic and want to go to advanced learning.

    • Hi Nalin,

Thanks. I would recommend starting with Arduinos. There are many books on the subject, and it’s very easy to get started with.

  2. Hi Matthew, your web is fantastic, I am interested in sponsoring you, do you consider it?if you do, can you leave your email for us to discuss more about the sponsorship?
